Treatment Philosophy

Michael uses a collaborative empathetic approach in his work with teens, adults, and families. He believes in working with the client to identify realistic goals in treatment and challenging negative thinking patterns. Michael is skilled in working with clients to address issues such as depression, anxiety, anger management, low self-esteem, autism spectrum disorder, suicidal ideation, self-injurious behavior, and family conflict.

 Michael implements principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Michael provides psychoeducation on effective coping strategies and communication skills to assist his clients in achieving their goals. 

Michael focuses on creating a safe, judgment-free space and implements a collaborative therapeutic approach that supports his clients in achieving their goals.

M.S. in Counseling from Hope International University (2021)

B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Bethesda (2017)

Professional Experience

Michael is experienced in group, individual, and family therapy. He provided psychotherapy in a school-based counseling setting working with teens at Cantwell Sacred Heart High School  He also has experience working at Discovery Mood and Anxiety Program’s residential treatment center where he provided psychotherapy to adolescents and families of all cultural backgrounds working through a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, substance use, school avoidance, low self-esteem, suicidal ideation, self-harm urges, autism spectrum disorder and family conflict.  Michael is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. 

Personal Life

Michael is a big sports fan and loves being active. He enjoys playing basketball, attending hot yoga classes, and lifting weights. In his free time, Michael enjoys going to the movies, comedy shows, and museums and finding a great show to watch at home.
