Treatment Philosophy
John (he/him/él) utilizes a person-centered, culturally affirming, and mindfulness-based approach in his work with individuals (teens and young adults). He draws from various evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment-focused Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
John has experience addressing issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Latino/e Mental Health, LGBTQ+ Identity, Life Transitions, Relationship Issues, Stress Management, Trauma, and Young Men’s Issues. He specializes in working with teens’ and young adults’ mental health (more specifically, young men). John acknowledges the life stressors and barriers (individual and systemic) clients go through and their immediate needs. He will accompany you on your path while moving at the pace that feels comfortable for you. He prioritizes creating an environment where you can express your true authentic self. John is committed that you feel heard, respected, and safe in a therapeutic space.

B.A. in Psychology with a Clinical Practice Emphasis and Minors in Criminal Justice & Multicultural Leadership Studies from California Polytechnic University, Pomona (2020)
Professional Experience
John began his clinical training at Chaffey Joint Union High School District (CJUHSD) where he worked with predominantly Latino/a/e high school students as a school-based therapist. He then worked as a telehealth-based therapist with teen boys and young male-identifying clients. John is Attachment-focused EMDR trained.
Personal Life
John enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to theme parks, listening to music and podcasts, and playing video games.
