Treatment Philosophy

Amanda uses a compassionate and empathetic and strength based approach in her work with adolescents, young adults and families. She believes in meeting each individual client where they are at. Amanda is skilled in working with clients to address issues such as anxiety, depression, body image issues, family conflict, trauma, life transitions, women’s issues and relationship issues. Amanda draws on principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy. Amanda utilizes the mind and body connection in order to support clients in processing emotions.

Amanda focuses on creating a warm, non-judgemental and accepting environment where clients can process feelings and thoughts in order to create the change they are looking for and meeting their individual therapeutic goals.

Professional Experience

Amanda began her clinical training in Santa Barbara County, working with Casa Pacifica SAFTY Team as a crisis intervention specialist, and later providing psychotherapy in a school-based counseling setting working with children and adolescents. Amanda also worked in a community mental health setting working with Santa Barbara County Children’s Clinic providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents and families of all cultural backgrounds working through a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Amanda is trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Personal Life

Amanda loves being outdoors hiking, camping or spending time at the beach to catch a sunset. Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and friends including her dog Oakley. She also enjoys being physically active, traveling, exploring new coffee shops, trying new restaurants and attending sporting events.
